Our First Breathtaking View of  Lake Jocassee

This 7,500+ acre reservoir is part of the Keowee-Toxaway complex which includes the Keowee and Jocassee Hydroelectric stations. This mountain lake has 75 miles of shoreline and is as deep as 300' in some areas.  The lake remains cold and clear throughout the year.

Named "Place of the Lost One" because of the legend of the Indian maiden, Jocassee, who was said to have drowned herself in grief over the murder of her lover.

This popular recreation area is surrounded by mountains and waterfa
lls.  It is an excellent area for scuba diving, swimming, fishing and of course, paddling.

Awe-inspiring - that tiny figure at the ramp is Dennis!  Lake Jocassee is 2+ miles across and 75 miles of shoreline... A lot of  paddling  to do!
